Our world is a wonderful place, full of creatures big and small and breathtaking nature. I want to do my small part to keep it that way.
With seed balls — seed bombs — I let you make the world a little more colourful with me, and together we create more room for butterflies, bees and many extraordinary insects.
Why balls?
Loose seed usually ends up wherever the wind carries it — or in a blackbird’s beak. A ball of clay and soil, on the other hand, flies exactly where it should, stays put and keeps its seeds moist and hidden until they germinate. And throwing is a lot more fun than scattering. Especially with children.
How I work
Every ball is rolled by hand, at the kitchen table in Gronau. The soil is compost, the clay a fine powder, the seed comes from native species with single flowers — the kind bees and butterflies actually find something in. Packaging is cotton or jute with a card tag. No plastic, anywhere.
It all started with a few bags for friends. These days seed bombs go out as wedding favours, into advent calendars and Easter nests, and as packs of a hundred to clubs and companies that want to turn a waste patch into a meadow. I ship from Germany across the EU.
